Daniel Aubry is an internationally known photographer whose fine art has been shown in galleries and museums worldwide and is in numerous private collections. His critically acclaimed solo show, PROJECTIONS, consisted of edgy images such as cheeseburgers and bar codes projected onto the human body. It premiered at Photo Espana in Madrid before moving to Soho’s Goldstrom Gallery and on to Miami’s Gallery Art to coincide with Art Basel in Miami.
When the chance arose to represent Purvis Young in the tri‐state New York area, Aubry couldn’t refuse. Having acquired some of Young’s pieces, he knew that Young was a major American painter who, despite being a legend in his hometown of Miami, did not have the recognition he deserved in New York.
Aubry has always loved a challenge and here was one made to size. Purvis Young was a big man with big work. Some of his pieces are twelve‐feet high. With art in over sixty museums, including the Smithsonian and Corcoran in Washington and the American Museum of Folk Art in New York, Young can hardly be called an emerging artist. Aubry has personally selected every piece in his gallery from Purvis Young’s own studio in Miami. For more information, please contact the Daniel Aubry Gallery.
