About
Work sold through the Daniel Aubry Gallery will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
Daniel Aubry is an internationally known photographer whose fine art work has been shown in galleries and museums worldwide, and is in numerous private collections. His latest critically acclaimed solo show, Projections, consisting of edgy images such as cheeseburgers and bar codes projected onto the human body, premiered at Photo Espana in Madrid before moving to Soho’s Goldstrom Gallery and on to Miami’s Gallery Art to coincide with last year’s Art Basel.
When I was asked to represent Purvis Young exclusively in the tri-state area, it was both an honor and an offer I couldn’t refuse. I had acquired some pieces of his in Miami and seen enough work to realize that here was a major American painter who, in New York at least, did not have the level of recognition he deserved.
Daniel Aubry has always loved a challenge. Here was one made to size. Purvis Young is a big man with big work. Some of his pieces are twelve feet high. A local legend in his hometown of Miami, Purvis Young, with work in over fifty museums, including the Smithsonian and the Corcoran in Washington and the American Museum of Folk Art in New York, can hardly be called an emerging artist.
I have personally selected every piece that will be shown in my gallery from Purvis Young’s own studio in Miami, states Aubry.
We consider at least two of the pieces currently on exhibit in the gallery to be masterworks; they would be best placed in major museums so that many people will have the opportunity to see them. But, we also have a wonderful selection of incredible works for private collectors.
